For instance, let's say you want to subscribe for 5 days, all you need to do is to text 5 and send to 317. The corresponding amount will be deducted from your phone account. Repeat the same format if you are paying for any of the plans listed above. Once the text is sent, you will receive a confirmation text from MTN and that's all...enjoy your light.
However, you have the option to enable 'Top-up', 'Auto-renewal' and 'daily fallback'. Just make sure your subscription doesn't expire before renewal or they will cut off your light.
As I said earlier, Lumos mobile electricity is a 'Pay As You Go' lighting system. So, you need to keep enjoying the light by paying promptly as at when due.
Note that the system will automatically unlock itself and you start enjoying free light if you maintain a consistent payment for 1800 days and 5 years have elapsed. After the 5 years, the yellow box becomes yours for life. But before then, the mobile electricity yellow box is still the property of MTN, and it's on Pay as you use basis.
In layman terms, the system is on 'Hire purchase' basis, and a minimum of 20 days must be paid every month or the system will be taken back to where it was purchased. Please, bear it in mind that the system only offers 60 watts of power, and as such, it will require small Tv.
What Next? Get 14 Days Free Light Once You Refer a Friend
You can enjoy free 14 days light if you refer a friend and the moment the friend joins the system. While you receive 2 weeks (14 days) free light, the friend you referred to will receive 1 week (7 days) free light. To refer a friend, simply text your friend's number
08133134773 in this format.
E.g Text 2348034567890 to 08133134773
That's the only acceptable format.

pls Nigerian, this product is not efficient at all, its suitable only for student who needs just bulb and table fan, it doesnt power a normal family TV, you will have to get a small 17 inches tv and render your family tv useless, also the battery is very poor, its only works well with the 2 led bulbs that come with ut, its cant even power a laptop cos most laptops comes with 65watts and it can only power 60watts at a go , so how does it works for you, i got it and discovered it was a waste.
ReplyDelete@ Rachel Mattews, your observation are as accurate as it was stated in the kit and on this blog. It is not made for high end power consuming products. It was clearly stated that it can only power a total of 60w electrical products. Anything above that, it will power off. So, I'll advise anybody using it to first calculate the power of the electronics before anything else. Thanks for your comment. Don't forget to share this post with your friends.
DeleteActually, I think this is a rip-off as it is too expensive to subscribe to/acquire. If a company like MTN will not do this cheaper, which will?
ReplyDeleteI concur with you bro. However, following complaints by Nigerians on the outrageous N26,000 one time setup fee, Mtn has decided to reduce the fee to N19,000. So, with N19,000, you can get the yellowbox, but the subscription monthly fee of N4500 remain unchanged.

I don't know why we can not appreciate this kind of initiative.its way to go. It took our Government forever to fix our power problem and MTN came up with this. Hoo my people let's clap for MTN.
DeleteWe must not also forget that this will open doors to competition in the power industries, more of this device will be produced my other people to compete with MTN.
Just immaging a young and fresh graduate with a wonderful idea say programming and does not have electricity to power his laptop, just consider the frustration. 3 Gbosha for MTN.
