ETISALAT OUT, 9MOBILE IN

Etisalat Nigeria Limited has finally bowed out of Nigeria and handed over its brand to 9Mobile, a new flagship telecom company. 

This was contained in an unveiling of the new brand 9Mobile Telecom in Lagos yesterday by the Chief Executive Officer of the company Mr. Bode Olusanya.

Fielding questions from the press and investors at their corporate headquarter, the venue of the official unveiling of the brand name and logo, the CEO said the new brand identity reflect bold and creative attributes the company shared with its subscribers. by the customers. 

He assured the subscribers that the change of name will not affect the customers, even as it will open ways for new investors to step in.

He emphasized that the company will continue with the innovative services the former brand, Etisalat maintained in its over nine years service to the country before pulling out due to unforeseen circumstances. 

He said: "Our new trading name, 9Mobile, represents our 0809ja heritage, our 9ja-centricity, and our evolution over nine years of operations in Nigeria. Although our trading name has changed, we remain true to the same values on which our company was built.

 "In our nine years of operation, we have remained in the forefront of innovation and take pride in consistently delivering superior experiences to our subscribers. We continue to establish meaningful partnership with our customers and partners by providing platforms that supports their goals and aspirations."

Other key-holders of the company also spoke on the new brand name even as the Chief Finance officer of the company, Funke Ighodaro, corroborated the statement of the Ceo.

It will be recalled that a three-week ultimatum handed down by Etisalat UAE that the name be dropped from use in Nigeria as it withdrew all its business engagement in Nigeria company following a protracted unresolved $1.2b (about N541billion) loan borrowed from consortium of 13 Nigerian banks that includes Access Bank, Zenith Bank, GTBank, FirstBank, as well as other foreign banks.

With the new development, all Etisalat subscribers are expected to identify with the new brand 9Mobile.
